Ashton Memorial

The Ashton Memorial is a majestic structure in Lancaster, Lancashire, UK. It was built in 1907 as a tribute to Lady Ashton, whose husband, Baron Ashton, had committed a large sum of his fortune to this project. The memorial stands at over 100 feet tall and is constructed of red sandstone, the same material used to build the neighbouring Lancaster Castle. The memorial was designed in the neo-Baroque style by John Belcher. It features a tall tower, a large dome, semi-circular arches, ornately carved figures beneath each arch and bronze panels telling the story of the arts and sciences. The memorial is a popular attraction for tourists and photography enthusiasts alike, offering great views of the city of Lancaster and beyond.
