Savior on the Spilled Blood

Savior on the Spilled Blood and The Benois Wing in St. Petersburg, Russia, are two stunning architectural marvels. Saviour on the Spilled Blood is an intricate, ornate, and eye-catching Eastern Orthodox cathedral, built on the site where Tsar Alexander II was assassinated in 1881. Inside, it is decorated with more than 7,000sq.m of mosaics, depicting Biblical and historical scenes, as well as intricate mosaics created by the famous Russian symbolist painter Mikhail Vrubel. Just outside the church lies the Benois Wing, one of St. Petersburg’s most iconic landmarks. It was built in the late 19th century to honor the memory of Karl Ivanovich Benois, an architect and painter, who was closely associated with the history of St. Petersburg. This remarkable building is distinguished by its bright colors, exquisite detailing and sculptures, and its beautiful mosaics, which tell stories of love, happiness, and patriotism.
