The Saône River is one of the biggest rivers in France. It runs right through the centre of Lyon where it enters from the east side and flows to the west. While in Lyon, visitors can enjoy the views of Victor Hugo's 19th-century bridge “Pont de la Boucle” which gives a great view of the city’s skyline. Every July, there is also a 1 week music festival on the river banks as part of Fete des Lumieres festival.

Here the river meanders through pine forests and vineyards, perfect for nature lovers. The mouth of Saône is Rhone – one of the biggest rivers in France which creates an estuary that has a unique microclimate and supports a variety of flora & fauna.
