The bridge is one of the most-visited sites in Florence, with stunning views of the Florentine skyline and the River Arno. It also has connections to many famous stories and characters including Dante Alighieri, who visited the bridge and immortalized it in The Divine Comedy. There are several monuments scattered along the bridge, including a bronze statue of Ferdinand I de Medici in the middle and a baroque monument dedicated to Cosimo I de Medici at the far end.
