Pfaffenstein, in Königstein, Germany, is an impressive late Romanesque hilltop castle ruin located on a hill of the same name. It was built in the 12th century to guard the area, and is surrounded by beautiful landscapes and nature spots. The ruin is open to the public and can be reached by foot on a 24-minute forest walk.
At the top of the hill, one can admire the castle ruins, where many interesting ruins, such as the walls, towers and gates, can be seen. Pantheon, a mausoleum in the ancient Greek and Roman style, is situated on a nearby hilltop, offering a great view of the surrounding area. There is also an old preserved farmhouse in the area, complete with a small orchard and two sheds, making it a great spot for photography and exploration.
