Galata Tower is an iconic, 14th century tower situated on the banks of the Golden Horn, in the Turkish city of Istanbul. Built by the Genoese, the tower has seven stories, topped by a conical roof and a metal lattice balcony, giving magnificent views of the surrounding city. One of the tallest remaining medieval towers, it stands over 33 meters tall, and its design is a blend of both East and West. Inside, there is an observation deck and cafe, a museum, and even a restaurant. Visitors can take the lift or climb the stairs to reach the tower top. At night, the tower is spectacularly lit, which makes it one of Istanbul's most visited tourist attractions.
