Castelo do Monsaraz is a stone walled medieval fortress in Évora, Portugal, overlooking the Alentejo plains. Built in the 13th century, the castle was once part of the border between Christian Portugal and the Muslim Algarve. Today, the castle is open to visitors and one can explore its chapel, towers, and battlement walls for an insight into Portugal's history.
