Ambras Castle, located in Innsbruck, Austria is a beautiful Renaissance style fortress which stands proudly atop the city's hills. Home to the Habsburg family, the castle is one of the most popular places to visit when in Innsbruck and its courtyards, walls, and gardens make it truly a special place. First built in 1090, the castle has long been the residential seat of the rulers of the region and has been carefully restored and maintained over the years. Today, the Ambras Manor House offers fine examples of 16th and 17th century aristocratic life. Don't miss the arms chamber, the Spanish Hall, and the Chamber of Art and Curiosities for a glimpse into a time long gone.
