The Dhaulagiri Circuit is one of the most popular trekking routes in the Annapurna region of Nepal. It includes a visit to the Dhaulagiri base camp, where mountain climbers attempt to summit the 8,172 m (26,795 ft) Dhaulagiri I peak. There are also multiple high passes to cross, including French Pass (5,360 m/17,585 ft) and Dhampus Pass (5,213 m/17,085 ft), which offer majestic views of the entire range. Trekkers spend nights at villages including Marpha, Tukuche, Lete and Jomsom. The landscapes encountered along the trek can range from subtropical to alpine and include varied cultures, ethnicities and religion. Trekkers should be aware of bringing a good quality sleeping bag and warm clothes as the nights get cold even during the summer months. With proper planning and preparation, the Dhaulagiri Circuit can be one of the most rewarding treks in the region.
