Stakkholtsgja Canyon

Stakkholtsgja Canyon is a stunning natural wonder located in the north of Iceland. The canyon is best known for its beautiful basalt formations which have been created by the force of the glacial river running through it. The canyon also features two waterfalls and interesting birdlife. It is a great place to explore, with numerous little trails running along the canyon walls and through the basalt formations. Hikers and photographers can find plenty of opportunity to capture majestic landscapes and the unique rock formations surrounding the area. The canyon is accessible by car and can be reached in a short drive from the nearby town of Akureyri.
