St. Francis Of Assisi Church

St. Francis of Assisi Church, located in the Old Town district of Staré Město in Czechia, is a spectacular example of Baroque architecture. Constructed over the course of nearly one hundred years, the enormous church is a symbolic testament to the city’s religious and cultural heritage. The church was originally founded in 1684 and is dedicated to the friars of St. Francis of Assisi, who preached here and held masses in the 17th and 18th centuries. The grand facade and facade sculptures of the church feature a striking array of statues and images, including Christ, the prophet Elijah, and the Church’s namesake – the barefoot Franciscan brother. After entering the church, visitors are treated to an impressive blend of art, music, and history. The frescoed barrel vault, panoramic ceiling, and ornamented columns are awe-inspiring. An organ sits atop the choir gallery where one can enjoy classical compositions during Sunday services.
