Snæfellsnesvegur

Snæfellsnesvegur, in Grundarfjörður, Iceland, is an impressively scenic mountain road, perfect for road trips and photographers alike. Starting from the shore of Fjarðarfiord in the south, the 20km long route contours the steep slopes of the renowned Snæfellsjökull volcano before climaxing at Reylastöðum, where the inviting black sand beaches offer a glimpse of the majestic glacier. Along the way, you'll find attractions such as the basalt seaside columns of Arnarstapi and the isolated valleys of Hellnar. It's a fantastic journey, with plenty of trails to explore and stunning peaks to summit. Make sure to bring some good hiking shoes and spare food and water though, as this unfrequented area is far from tourist facilities.
