Lake Wakatipu

Lake Wakatipu is situated in Mount Creighton, New Zealand and is one of the country's stunning glacial lakes. Lying below the dramatic rocky peaks of the Southern Alps and surrounded by forests, the lake is 80-kilometres long and a popular destination for swimming, boating, fishing and hiking. Its steep, jagged shoreline showcases some of New Zealand's most beautiful scenery, featuring glaciers, waterfalls, alpine meadows and wildlife. At the northern end of the lake lies Queenstown, a bustling resort town and haven for adventure sports, while the historic, gold-mining town of Arrowtown can be found just south-west of the lake. The lake has many walks and hikes offering majestic mountain views and it is also an excellent spot for scene watching, with a wide variety of birds and wildlife found in the area.
