Iruya and Iglesia de Iruya, in Argentina's Salta Province, is a spectacular place. Located high in the Andes, Iruya and Iglesia de Iruya are some of the most remote villages in Argentina. Though it isn't easy to get there, the journey – and the destination – are worth it. Iruya is a small village surrounded by incredible rock formations and rugged mountains. Its traditional adobe homes, colorful churches and narrow cobblestone streets give it a captivating charm. Iglesia de Iruya is a colonial church that was built at the beginning of the 18th century, and is an impressive building that boasts a unique mix of local and colonial architecture. From the top of its bell tower, the views of the valley are spectacular. Iruya and Iglesia de Iruya offer visitors the opportunity to explore an exciting and remote area of Argentina. Be sure to hike up to Mirador del Chorro, for a breathtaking views of the mountains and the valley below, or take some time to explore the church and its surroundings. And don't forget your camera, because both Iruya and Iglesia de Iruya are incredible photographic locations.
