Designed by Baldassarre Longhena, the church is an excellent example of Venetian Baroque architecture. Inside, the church has spectacular interiors and chapels, with a floor of pebbles, drums of marble and a large dome. It is especially renowned for its numerous frescoes, including ‘The Triumph of the Faith’ by Guarana, and ‘The Glorification of the Virgin’ by Gregorio Lazzarini. The church also houses some of Venetian art, including works by Tiepolo and Tiziano. The magnificent façade has statues of figures related to the Virgin Mary and the interior is decorated with paintings, marble altars and bronze statues. The crypt is a special treat, with a few curious frescoes and a choir.
