Plansee

Plansee, in Reutte, Austria, is a commune in the district of Reutte in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It is best known for its scenic lake of Plansee, at an altitude of 848 m (2,782 ft). The lake is surrounded by a rolling landscape of high meadows and hills with towering mountain peaks in the far distance. There is a hotel and a restaurant at the lake and plenty of opportunities for hiking and swimming activities. The area boasts magnificent views of the Austrian countryside from various particularly good spots. In summer, many visitors come to sunbathe on the banks of Lake Plansee, go fishing or enjoy a boat ride on the sparkling lake waters. Wintertime sees the lake turn into an ice-skating rink and a place to explore with snowshoes. The surrounding areas provide plenty of hiking and cross-country ski trails and the nearby ski slopes guarantee lots of snow and fun.
