Chiesa di San Giorgio - Van Scoglio del Groppo Lungo, ItalyU@lucabravo - UnsplashChiesa di San Giorgio📍 Van Scoglio del Groppo Lungo, ItalyThe Chiesa di San Giorgio (otherwise known as the Church of Saint George) in the picturesque fishing village of Tellaro, Italy, is a simple yet magnificent piece of history. Situated atop a hill in a perfect position, the church offers stunning views of the Gulf of La Spezia and the surrounding area. Built in 1375, the exterior features white stucco and rustic red terracotta tiles. The small, simple stone entrance with pointed arches still stands in contrast to the bigger and more ambitious churches in the area. The interior is equally inspiring. The walls are adorned with numerous side altars that depict the events in the life of Saint George, painted in the mid-14th Century in the iconic ‘golden style’ of the Ligurian school. At the entrance, you can find an ancient baptismal font, used as far back as the 17th Century. Visiting the Chiesa di San Giorgio is a must if you’re in Tellaro. In the summer months, the church is available for mass, with additional activities and community events taking place during the year. If you’re in the area, don’t miss the chance to marvel at this remarkable 14th Century piece of history.TOP🗺 KaartToon op kaart🎫 Toeristische attractiesControleer toeristische attracties in de buurt🏨 HerbergenControleer hostels in de buurt🌦 Weer informatieOntvang weersinformatie en nog veel meer vanuit de app. Download het gratis!🚕 Hoe daar te komen?Ontvang route-informatie (met de auto, te voet, openbaar vervoer, enz.) en nog veel meer vanuit de app. Download het gratis!
