Wiatrak - De Nolet

This old windmill 'Wiatrak - De Nolet' is a beautiful historic attraction located in the city of Schiedam in Netherlands. Originally built in 1758, the mill has been operational till the year 1984. Although it no longer grinds grain like in the past, it has been restored by volunteers and still serves as a reminder of the past. The red brick structure stands at 40 meters tall and its huge wooden blades can rotate in any direction, making it the perfect photo subject. Today 'Wiatrak - De Nolet' is a popular tourist attraction and the area of the mill are offers amenities like a playground, picnic area and a barbeque joint. There is also a popular restaurant run by the Wiamarkt association located nearby. The mill and its grounds are also used for exhibitions and festivals during the summer months. A visit to this windmill is an excellent way to experience some of the Netherlands' old culture.
