Plaza del Parque o Plaza de Armas

Plaza del Parque, also known as Plaza de Armas, is one of Cartagena de Indias’ most beautiful public squares. Located in the old city, it is a lush and serene spot that is surrounded by impressive colonial buildings. Its white marble fountain, vibrant Spanish tile benches, and bright flowering trees create a romantic and elegant atmosphere. On the fountain, you can admire the Golden Indian statue, which is the symbol of independence from Spain. Also, if you look closely, you can spot sculptures of chameleons and iguanas hidden among the foliage. At one side of the plaza, the Cathedral de San Pedro Claver stands tall, another important landmark in Cartagena de Indias. After admiring the architecture, don’t forget to try some local food specialties in one of the nearby restaurants or cafes.
