Plaça d’Espanya is a grand square situated in the Sants-Montjuic area of Barcelona, Spain. First constructed in 1929 for the International Exhibition, the plaza features two massive semicircular buildings and an impressive fountain in the center of a large garden. The iconic Venetian Towers flank the Southern entrance to the plaza, reminiscent of Venice’s Piazzale Roma. Plaça d’Espanya is a lively and vibrant area and home to some of the city’s most spectacular events, such as the 15th of August firework display and Festa Major.
