Monumento a Cristóbal Colón

Monumento a Cristóbal Colón, in Sevilla Spain, is a monument dedicated to Christopher Columbus. It is located on the south side of the Plaza de España and was built in 1929 as part of the celebrations to commemorate the fourth centennial of the discovery of America. As it is one of the most visited monuments of the Andalusian capital, it enjoys a great architectural beauty. The monument has a height of 23 meters and stands on a base that contains the remains of Christopher Columbus. The monument includes six panels with scenes of the discovery of America, figures of classical gods and allegories of maritime activities. Also, four bronze lions at the base honor Castilla, Leon, Aragon and Navarra. It is truly a work of art and a must to visit on your trip to Sevilla.
