El Portitxol

El Portitxol is a beautiful cove located on the ancient Greek-Roman coastal town of L’Escala in Spain. From the main beach of L’Escala, one can take a short walk down to the secluded cove of El Portitxol. While smaller, it is filled with character as rocky cliffs surround the lagoon-like pool with its crystal clear, turquoise waters. Dotted in between the rocks are small coves which are each perfectly sized for sunbathing or taking a dip. You can also come across some fishing boats, old ruins of the salt mines and a restaurant on the beach. The long boardwalk gives you a chance to take a walk and enjoy the promenade. It is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city and just enjoy the nature and beauty of Spain’s Mediterranean Coast.
