Chicago Water Tower

Chicago Water Tower is a limestone water tower situated in the center of the Magnificent Mile district of Chicago, Illinois. It was completed in 1869 and stands at a prominent 186 feet. It is one of the few buildings left in the area that survived the Great Chicago fire of 1871. The base of the structure features a two-story Romanesque staircase leading to the entrance. Inside the tower is an art gallery called the Towering Gallery of American Designed Toilet Furniture, premiering its designs to the world. Despite the name, no water is pumped from the tower, and it is not currently part of the public water system. Instead, it acts as a symbol of the city and its important role in the history of Chicago. It has been designated a Chicago Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1975.
