Cabo de São Vicente's Lighthouse

Cabo de São Vicente is the most southwesterly point of Portugal and mainland Europe. Its impressive lighthouse stands proudly on the tip of the cape and is a great spot to watch the sun set over the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean. The 16th century structure, originally built to scare off pirates, signals passing sailors even today, and is a very popular landmark with locals and tourists alike. Whether you take the road into Sagres or the relaxing coastal drive, you’ll find plenty of spectacular views for photographers. There is a small natural park, where you can capture the beauty of the lighthouse standing tall over the cliffs and the sea below. The park also offers fun activities for children, and it’s a great place to relax in between taking photos.
