Perched atop the Königstuhl hill, the viewpoint offers an incredible panoramic view across the Altstadt of Heidelberg, showing off the city’s historic architecture, partially destroyed castle and its beautiful surrounding countryside. From here one can see many of the iconic monuments of Heidelberg including its old red-sandstone castle, the picturesque Baroque old town, the Gothic Heiliggeistkirche and the massive Holy Ghost Church. The steep hill of the Königstuhl provides an excellent spot for foreshortening and composition, making it a popular location for photographers and sightseers alike.
