Morskie Oko

Morskie Oko and Szlak Pieszy Czerwony is an enchanting place, situated near the mountain village of Zakopane in the Tatra National Park, Poland. Morskie Oko, is a large glacier lake, 1,395 m (4,577 ft) above sea level. It is the fourth deepest lake in Poland, with a depth of up to 39 m (128 ft). The hike to Morskie Oko is arguably the most popular tourist trail in Zakopane, offering stunning views of the mountains and the lake.

The journey begins at the lower cable car station in Zakopane, which takes you to the start of the 10 km (6.2 mi) long red trail, known as the Szlak Pieszy Czerwony. From here, the hike leads you through dense forest, over river and stream crossings, past ancient fir and spruce trees, up to the breathtaking view of Morskie Oko. The route is suitable for all skills levels, as there are several diversions for those seeking a more adventurous hike. Along the way you will pass numerous mountain huts and lodges, offering snacks and a chance to experience the local culture. You will be surrounded by some of the highest peaks in the Tatra Mountains, including the Rysy Mountain (2 499 m/ 8 199 ft) and the Czarny Staw Gąsienicowy (2 245 m/ 7 366 ft).
