The Bad Säckinger Holzbrücke (Bad Säckingen Wooden Bridge), constructed in 1794, is the oldest covered wooden bridge still in use in Germany. Spanning the Rhine River to connect the German town of Bad Säckingen with Switzerland, the arched wood-and-stone bridge is a sight to behold. Taking a walk along its length offers magnificent views of the river and its banks, as well as the Swiss landscape in the south. Its rustic 19th-century feel is a reminder of a bygone era. There's also a promenade leading to 'Alte Rheinbrücke', a neighbouring stone bridge dating from 1858. Be sure to make time for the lovely riverside setting, famous for its romantic sunsets.
