The Tip of Africa

The Tip of Africa, also known as Cape Point, is a windswept spot in the Cape Peninsula National Park near Cape Town, South Africa. Here, the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet in a headland noted for its dramatic cliffs and breathtaking views of the sea. The highlight of the cape is the Cape of Good Hope, a rocky promontory at the southwestern tip of the Cape of Good Hope. It is also home to the New Cape Point Lighthouse, built in 1860 to guide ships safely past dangerous reefs and rocks. Here, visitors and adventurers can explore the wild and broken coastline, take in stunning sea views from the cliffs and enjoy walking the many trails that meander through the numerous fynbos laden valleys. The park also hosts a variety of wildlife, from buck to baboons to lizards, as well as occasional sightings of whales and dolphins offshore.
