St. Peter Cathedral - Frá Inside, GermanydeutregterSt. Peter Cathedral📍 Frá Inside, GermanySt. Peter's Cathedral, in the beautiful city of Osnabrück in Lower Saxony, Germany, is a must-see attraction for visitors. This impressive building serves both as a historical monument and as an active Catholic church in the city center. The Cathedral was originally built in the year 1030, although the current structure dates back to the 16th and 17th centuries. Together with the monastery it was part of the famous “Vredenburg” system, a elaborate form of defense against invaders during the Middle Ages. Visitors can spend the day admiring its imposing Gothic architecture, including its majestic bell tower, the transept and the elegant stained glass windows. Inside, there are also several cathedal organs inside, and numerous frescoes, sculptures and paintings, making it a real treat to explore. At the west side door, is where one of the most impressive sites of the city lies, the ancient stone “Rotehorn Portal”. Crafted in 1414, it is one of the finest examples of the German architectural art. One of the most important and traditional festivals in the city takes place right at the Cathedral's steps, around the “Three Roses” fountain, during the “Barfusser Wallfahrt”. Every year thousands of pilgrims barefoot walk up the St. Peter's Cathedral and the event is celebrated with a grand procession, theatre performances and traditional snacks.🗺 KortSýna á korti🎫 FerðamannastaðirAthugaðu ferðamannastaði í nágrenninu🏨 FarfuglaheimiliAthugaðu farfuglaheimili í nágrenninu🌦 Upplýsingar um veðurFáðu veðurupplýsingar og margt fleira í appinu.
