San Luis Rey

San Luis Rey is located in Oceanside, United States and is a historic Mission Church with a notable cemetery. It was the 18th of the 21 Missions founded by Franciscan Friars in California. It is one of the oldest standing structures in California, having served as a chapel, school and spiritual home for the Native Americans for more than two centuries. The cemetery has several impressive sculptures, including a life-size statue of Saint Francis. Visitors can also explore the Spanish-style garden featuring neat hedges and a fountain. Travelers can admire the interlocking trellis posts covered with climbing roses, seasonal gardens with variety of plants, and an old olive tree. There is a museum, which is home to more than 400 cultural artifacts, telling the history of the area and its former occupants.
