Khram V Chest’ Ikony Kazanskoy Bozhiyey Materi V Kolomenskom, commonly known as Church of the Icon of Our Lady of Kazan, is a Russian Orthodox Church situated in Kolomenskoye village of Moscow region, Russia. The church, built in 1809 and rebuilt in 1923 is a two storied building with a high tower and golden domes. The icon of the Virgin Mary it enshrines is known as the holiest item in Russian culture. The inside of the church is covered in figurative frescos portraying Biblical scenes and images of Russian saints. Outside the church, an old cemetery offers an interesting visit. The local field station of the Russian Academy of Sciences offers a beautiful view of the surrounding historical park and fascinating panoramas of the city of Moscow.
