Vianden Castle

Vianden Castle is an impressive medieval castle located in the small country of Luxembourg. The castle was built in the 11th century, and has been restored several times throughout history, maintaining great architectural beauty. The castle is located on a rocky hill above the town of Vianden, and is overlooked by the banks of the Black Ernz river. It's the largest and most impressive castle in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and a very popular tourist destination. Visitors of the castle get to view the elegant furnishings, armors and uniforms, and many other items once owned by the counts of Vianden. There are also plenty of well-kept courtyards and gardens, large towers, and fortifications that can take you back to the Middle Ages. Guided tours are available for visitors, and a museum showcases the castle's history. One of the best sights to see is the imposing keep and its view of the river. Climbing to the castle's battlement will offer spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. The castle is open from April to October, and tickets can be purchased on the castle grounds.
