Saint-Germain-en-Laye

Saint-Germain-en-Laye is a beautiful commune in the Yvelines department in the Île-de-France region of France. Located in the western suburbs of Paris, it is one of the most gracious and serene suburbs of Paris with its many parks and old chateaus. It is known for its impressive palace Château Saint-Germain-en-Laye, the centuries-old Royal Abbey of Saint-Germain-en-Laye and its scenic city center. The Abbey is a prominent Romanesque-Gothic church with an elaborately decorated interior, including several remarkable frescoes. It's also home to the Saint-Germain-en-Laye National Museum of Natural History which houses several natural history collections connected to some of the major scientific explorations of the 19th century. Besides exploring its exquisite heritage sites, Saint-Germain-en-laye has plenty of galleries, boutiques and cafes for visitors to explore. It also offers some charming walking and cycling trails around the area.
