Porto Cathedral

Located in the heart of Porto, the Cathedral of Porto or Sé de Porto is one of the oldest and best preserved Romanesque monuments in Portugal. Dating back to the 12thcentury, the Porto Cathedral features an ornate Gothic façade with baroque touches, beautiful twin bell towers and a gilded Romanesque main chapel. Inside, you can admire the magnificent marble altarpiece and the filigree iron gate crafted in 1772. For photographers, the Cathedral’s stunning 16thcentury cloister is a must, with the Gothic-style arches and radiant marble columns illuminating the courtyard, and providing a stunning view of Ribeira. The soaring spires of the edifice also make for an incredible sunset shot, which can be taken from the terraces of Ribeira or from the clifftop at Miradouro da Serra do Pilar.
