Patio de Doncellas

Patio de Doncellas is an iconic Sevillan patio located on Calle San José in the old quarter. It is said to have been initially built in 16th century and contains a variety of arches and tiles that gives a traditional Hispano-Islamic appearance to the building. Inside, visitors can admire its large central pool, surrounded by palms and orange trees. It has a spectacular fountain, beautiful landscaping and a wonderful inner ambiance. There is even a library of antique books that's been around since more than 200 years. Visitors to the Patio de Doncellas will surely enjoy their stay, even without taking photographs – though, it's a great spot for photographers as well. Explore the incredible details around the patio, including the two massive doors, whitewashed walls and detailed tiles, but don’t forget to look up to the roof where an original arch is supported by its impressive columnas. The patio can be accessed from 9am-2pm, from May to September, and is free of charge.
