Lau Ming Wai Academic Building

Located in northeast Oregon and along the Idaho border, Hells Canyon is the deepest canyon in North America. Created by the waters of the Snake River, the 10-mile wide canyon is an area of unique and varied geography, ranging from a steeply eroded rocky canyon wall to open alpine meadows. The canyon's colorful geologic features, developed during the Pliocene epoch, make the area a popular site for hiking and many other forms of outdoor recreation. The canyon is accessable from the Oregon and Idaho sides of the Snake River and there are many trail systems and viewpoints to explore. The area is also popular for whitewater rafting trips, fishing and camping. Along the way, visitors will have the chances to see bighorn sheep, eagles, and mule deer. Despite the hot summers and cold winters, Hells Canyon is an undiscovered gem with its remarkable beauty and peacefulness.
