Lady Knox Geyser

Lady Knox Geyser is located at the Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland in New Zealand and is the largest geyser in the Southern Hemisphere. It is a spectacular sight, as every day at 10.15am (weather permitting!) it erupts to a height of up to twenty metres. It takes about 15 minutes for the eruption to finish, which is followed by billowing steam. It is an incredible natural phenomenon which is not to be missed! The Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland is also home to numerous other features such as bubbling mud pools, hot springs, sulphur sinks and vivid blue lakes. The sparkling colours of the steaming terraces are caused by algae and bacteria that thrive in the mineral-rich hot springs.
