Emosson Dam

The Emosson Dam is a chairlift-accessible hydroelectric dam situated in Finhaut, Switzerland. Located between Lake Geneva and the Mont Blanc massif, the dam provides stunning views of the Alps and nearby lake. The dam is considered an engineering marvel, as it was finished during 1971 and 1972 despite its high altitude, at an estimated 2000 feet above sea level. Visitors can learn about the history and operation of the dam by taking the guided tour when the site is open, or alternatively explore on their own. Other attractions close by include the Aiguille du Midi and the nearby mountain village of Servoz, with its churches and trails for a unique insight into life in the Alpine region. It is also possible to access a viewing platform from the dam itself which overlooks the spectacularly beautiful Col de Marais.
