Cima de Matagalls

Cima de Matagalls is a dramatic peak located in Viladrau, Spain. At an elevation of 1,714m, it's the highest point of the Matagalls-Montserrat range and stands as a natural border between Catalonia and the Berguedà region. This popular peak offers incredible mountainous views of the surrounding ranges, including Montserrat and Sant Llorenç. It's a great place for photographers looking to capture a postcard-like shot of this unique landscape. There are several trails that lead up to the summit, which can be reached on foot, by horse, or even by 4WD. For the more daring, locals say there is also the option of "via ferrata" - a hiking trail equipped with metal cables bolted into the rocks that allow safer and easier access. Some routes also take you past stunning waterfalls and lush forests of pine trees. Whatever route you take, the panoramic views from the top make every effort totally worthwhile.
