Chiesa Nuova, also known as Santa Maria in Vallicella, is one of the few churches serving the Oratorian Fathers in Rome. It was designed by architect Carlo Maderno and built during Pope Sixtus V's papacy in the late 16th century in honor of the first saint of the Oratorian congregation, Saint Filippo Neri. The facade is composed of three intertwined arches flanked by two semicircular bell towers. Inside, the central nave is long and includes a fresco of the Madonna and Child. The church is located in the Outskirts of Rome, near both the Tiber and the Ghetto, allowing visitors to easily explore this historically significant area and experience a different side of Rome. Its nearby streets feature a mix of buildings with Roman ruins and baroque buildings, which offer unique photo opportunities. Tourists can also watch the work of traditional tradespeople, and admire the façade of the Church of Saints Gregorio and Agostino nearby.
