Castel del Monte

Castel del Monte is a unique 13th century castle situated in the Puglia region of Italy, near the city of Andria. Built in a polygonal shape by Frederick II of Swabia, the castle was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996. It stands proudly atop a hill with panoramic views of the surrounding olive groves, vineyards and fields. Inside, visitors can wander through the upper and lower courtyards, while admiring the high walls, the round towers, the arched ceilings and the octagonal rooms with the characteristic alcoves.
