Capela de Nossa Senhora da Peninha is a small chapel built in the 16th century located in Colares, Portugal. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, it stands atop a 222 metres (728 feet) high hill and offers views of the surrounding region and the Atlantic Ocean. Despite being unaltered in structure and materials throughout its history, it is a living testimony to the past and marks one of the five chapels built by the friar Jerónimo das Chagas on the western side of the Sintra range. The chapel of Our Lady of the Rock is part of the legend of the Battle of Arcos, the last resistance of the Moors to the kingdom of Portugal, and still to this day a place of Refuge and pilgrimage.
