Calder's Flamingo is an iconic sculpture located in the North end of Chicago’s magnificent Millennium Park. Commissioned by the City of Chicago, the sculpture consists of two pink legs with a red beak, standing 50 feet tall, and weighing more than 30 tons. Calder’s Flamingo was created by the American sculptor Alexander Calder in 1974 and takes its inspiration from the jewel-like colors of the tropical bird. On the four rocks surrounding the sculpture rests a little yellow duck. Although one might think it is part of the sculpture, it is in fact an additional artwork created by a local artist Jeff Warranty. Stroll around this beautiful piece of art to take in the amazing views of downtown Chicago.
