Batu Caves

Batu Caves, a limestone hill and one of the most famous Hindu shrines outside India, are located around 11 kilometres northern from the city center of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Located at the top of the hill are three large, gold-plated statues of Lord Murugan. The main attraction inside the temple is a long set of staircases with 272 steps that lead to the top, with two brightly coloured Hindu shrines at either side, making for quite a photo-worthy sight. As you ascend, you will be greeted by a variety of macaques that live in the area and a statue of Lord Subramaniam, the Hindu God. At the top, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city and take in the spiritual vibes of the temples. Inside the caves, you can explore a variety of stalactites, stalagmites, and Hindu shrines. During the month of Thaipusam, devotees flock to the site to pay homage to their chosen deity. The caves are open daily for tourists, free of charge.
