It has been the seat of the city’s archbishop since 1591. The church was dedicated to the city’s patron saint, San Petronio, in 1390, and construction began shortly thereafter. The church was designed by the Bolognese architect Antonio di Vincenzo in the late 14th century and it is one of the largest churches in Italy. The building is renowned for its rich Renaissance-style façade, decorated with statues and bas-reliefs depicting scenes from the Bible. Inside, visitors will find ornate and elaborate frescoes, several chapels, and a stunning terra-cotta floor. Its bell tower, which offers a great view of the city, is a popular photo spot. Unfortunately, the building’s completion was halted in 1517 due to a lack of funds and it remains unfinsihed to this day. Besides its rich history and art, the basilica has also become a sightetting for baptisms, weddings, and religious processions.🗺 PetaTampilkan di Peta🎫 Tempat wisataPeriksa tempat-tempat wisata terdekat🏨 HostelPeriksa hostel terdekat🌦 Informasi cuacaDapatkan informasi cuaca, dan banyak lagi, dari aplikasi.
