Valley of the Kings, also known as The Great Valley, is located in the Al Qarna Desert near the city of Luxor in Upper Egypt. It is a royal cemetery that contains 63 royal tombs dug out of sandstone cliffs, many of them still original and untouched. Inside the tombs travelers can find ancient Egyptian designs, papyri and hieroglyphics, lavishly decorated sarcophagi and other artifacts. These tombs are unique and offer a wide range of architectural designs, colors, and hieroglyphs. While most tombs were constructed to contain the entombed's treasure and mummy, others were quite simple. A trip to the Valley of the Kings is a must for those seeking the history, beauty, and cultural heritage of the ancient Egyptians.
