Schloss Au

Schloss Au is a cultural and natural site situated in the countryside near Wädenswil, Switzerland. The castle stands surrounded by a fascinating landscape of terraced vineyards, grazing farmland and rolling hills of the Swiss Alps. The site is a series of ruins that contains what remains of a large edifice that once witnessed many important historical events, including the Castellan and Bailiwick of Au in the 12th century, and the Battle of Au in the Swabian War in 1499. Today, Schloss Au offers visitors a great opportunity to observe a stunning landscape, study its architecture, or just enjoy a peaceful stroll. Because the site is maintained by local nature conservation, it also offers great opportunities to observe the local flora and fauna. The castle grounds are open to the public and are easily accessible by car.
