The Chesmenskaya Column is one of the most photographed and talked about monuments in the city of Saint Petersburg, Russia. It is a 67-meter tall stone pillar, designed in the early 1800s by Russian General Alexander Suvorov and located in St. Isaac’s Square in the heart of St. Petersburg. The 36-meter-high column is made of pink granite and topped with a bronze eight-pointed star. Its base is inscribed with the Latin inscription «Любить и Гордиться» - "Love and Be Proud". Chesmenskaya Column is now a popular landmark of St. Petersburg and attracts many visitors who admire its magnificent plan and location.
