Virxe da Barca sanctuary is a popular pilgrimage destination located in A Coruña, Spain. The sanctuary was built in the 15th century and dedicated to what is believed to be a miraculous image of the Virgin of the Boat, found in the 1950s. Visitors can take in the wonderful views of the area surrounding the sanctuary, such as the scenic Concha Beach and the Riazor seaside promenade. The sanctuary is filled with historic and religious iconography, from statues and engravings to traditional Porto-Romanesque architecture. Take a peaceful stroll along the old bridge that connects the sanctuary with the mainland. Be sure to not miss the traditional procession of boats, held every August on the eve of Assumption Day, in honor of Virgin Mary.
