Sugar Loaf is a peak that towers 392 meters over the harbor of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is located in the Urca district of Rio, just across the bay from Copacabana beach. From the top of the mountain, one can get a magnificent view of the harbor, with the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue in the distance and the beautiful beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon. The peak can be reached by a two-stage cable car journey, the first stage takes people to Morro da Urca, 220 meters above the sea, and from there a 30-minute cable car ride takes passengers to the peak of Sugar Loaf. Inside the mountain there is an area with restaurants and shops. Visitors can also take part in activities such as rock climbing and tours.
